Old Media Neither Credible, Trustworthy nor Relevant

The old media are in critical condition.
Newsweek writers Michael Isikoff and John Barry reported that American military personnel at Guantanamo Bay had flushed the Muslim world’s holiest book, the Quran, down the toilet – a report that led to blistering condemnations and a call for a holy war in the Arab world, violent anti-American protests in Afghanistan, Indonesia, Pakistan, et al., and 17 deaths and over 100 injuries so far. My dad was a Federal Parole and Probation officer in El Paso, Texas, 30 years ago. Because he dealt with Federal cases, it was his responsibility to handle illegal immigrants. I was only about 8 years old when I overheard him saying that 10,000 Mexicans a day crossed the border between America and Mexico. The old saying goes: “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me”. The U.S. Senate is poised to fool the American people the second time with the euphemistically named “guest worker” scheme. It did so the first time in 1986, led by Senator Kennedy, who is also in the forefront of the current push for amnesty for illegal aliens. The 1986 amnesty had forgiveness of lawbreaking by those who sneaked into the country, but promised strict surveillance of the borders. The borders were never controlled, leading several million more lawbreakers to come into the country.
