The Influence of Modern Technology on Society

Published by Helga under Uncategorized

Today we live in a society that is more and more affected by technological innovations. Large corporations spend millions of dollars on their Research and Development departments while at the same time innodividual inventors try their best to commit some kind of a groundbreaking research that will make them a fortune. This results in thousands of brand new innovation techniques and devices being introduced to the society on a regular basis. Now most of the people can’t imagine their lives without things like Internet, cellular phones or electricity. It wouldn’t be a mistake to say that we are dependent on those things. Of course, there is no point in arguing that technological innovations make our lives much more comfortable and for some groups of people they provide the opportunities that they would have never had without such technologies. But recently there have been a number of discussions that brought up a question of negative effects of technology on society. Those who support this theory argue that the rapid development of new ways of communications and information technologies have significantly changed the way people think, interact with each other set their life priorities. And from their point of view it hasn’t been a positive change. The example that they most frequently use is the Internet. Modern technology critics say that today a person instead of living a real life lives a virtual one. Personal relations are substituted with online communications and some people have simply forgotten how to deal with people in real life after hours spent chatting on social networks. And this is just a tiny part of all the disadvantages they talk about.

For someone, it may seem that dating profile isn’t a greater part of your way to the happiness. If you think that way too, you will, probably, be looking for your good friend or lover much longer, than those who don’t. Why?

By Joan Swirsky

The old media are in critical condition.

Immigration Is Slitting Our Wrists
By Resa Kirkland

My dad was a Federal Parole and Probation officer in El Paso, Texas, 30 years ago. Because he dealt with Federal cases, it was his responsibility to handle illegal immigrants. I was only about 8 years old when I overheard him saying that 10,000 Mexicans a day crossed the border between America and Mexico. Of course, they didn’t all stay… much of it was just daily traffic back and forth. Continue Reading »

What Happened to Our Gratitude?
By Kerry Marsala

“When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” Deuteronomy 6:10, 11 Continue Reading »

Women Have a Choice–Men Should Too
By Jeffery M. Leving and Glenn Sacks

A 25-year-old computer programmer has done what has long been thought impossible–he has united the pro-choice feminist left and the pro-life right. Matt Dubay of Saginaw, Michigan is the plaintiff in a new lawsuit in which he seeks to wipe out the child support payments he is obligated to make to an ex-girlfriend. He says he had made it clear to her that he didn’t want to be a father at this time, and that she got pregnant after she had repeatedly assured him that a physical condition rendered her sterile.
